Even though I was a bigger fan of Stone Temple Pilots this has probably hit me harder than Scott Weiland's death because sadly you could see that coming about six months before it happened this has just come out of nowhere with Soundgarden currently on tour and were just about to head into the studio to record the new album.

Absolutely tragic so sad.

Devastating news :( Can't believe he's gone so suddenly!!

I'm a huge Temple of the Dog fan mainly because of Pearl Jam and have got into Soundgarden more and more over the years. Will be listening to both bands over the next few days as a mark of rememberance for the great man.

More of a fan of his work with Audioslave than Soundgarden, mainly as I was a huge RATM fan.

52 is too young to go, and so suddenly.

Vale, Chris.

Badmotorfinger is a mainstay of my car rotation and gets a run about once a month. It was just the other day that I was schooling a "youngster" as they hadn't heard of Soundgarden - Fell on Black Days was playing and they commented that it was a cool song.

Was lucky a mate bought an extra ticket to his show at festival theater last year and I was able to go along. The man had a brilliant voice and could sing anything and make it sound good! Can honestly say I have had a massive man crush since I was a teenager. Am seriously in shock!

Was 12 when I heard a friend's older brother playing Superunknown and thought "I want that". Black Hole Sun will forever be a favourite and a reminder of being a kid in the nineties, moreso than any song from Nirvana, Pearl Jam etc

Jesus Christ Pose was my favourite Soundgarden song. Amazing song, ratcheting guitars, Cornell's shriek and a mind-addling film clip.

Terrible news. Chris Cornell in my top 3 with Eddie Vedder & Maynard James Keenan. Still remember seeing Audioslave when I was in London......just an amazing voice.

Bought the Bose speaker into work today and having a day listening to Soundgarden and Audioslave. "Be Yourself" is a favourite and a song I never tire of hearing. His music brings back a lot of good memories from the past.
So you've seen everything have you?
Yep

No
Well you haven't seen everything then have you.

I'm playing a Soundgarden and Audioslave playlist here at school, everytime one of the kids comes in for IT Support, they are getting an education on a true rock legend...

Was lucky enough to see him on his Songbook tour in 2011, was absolutely amazing. Had the whole theatre captivated from start to finish.

Also saw Soundgarden 3 times, and each time they blew me away

Brutal, did a meet and greet after the show with fans and within 60 minutes ended it all
