Wild card players playing against the world #1 in the first round of a grand slam put up a better effort than that
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

Is the only positive of this that he actually completed the match?

yep agree.

you may not like him as a person (i do) but thats why you have to respect lleyton. in every match he has ever played he has never given up, and that is probably his biggest strength as a tennis player, and he has beaten many a better tennis player in his time due to his mental toughness. tomic and phillippousis on the other hand...

at least kokkinakis and kyrgios look like they have the stomach for the fight. looking forward to watching them develop in the next few years.

Sorry I can't agree with you putting Phillippousis in the same category as Tomic. 3 Grand slam finals. His first knee injury when he was tearing Sampras apart was his career changer. I'll never forget the day he played with that shoulder injury and beat Ferrero in the davis Cup final to win it for Australia when Ferrero was at the top of his game. I don't see Tomic ever doing that

Is this bloke trying to "out-flog" Kyrigos... If so that's a fair effort.

Pretty sure Tomic is going to be another of those guys that has a lot of potential but never fulfils it, because he is a dickhead that thinks he doesn't have to work for it.

Essentially 8 years ago that post and essentially as correct as they come.
