Old Car batteries
Thought if anyone needs get rid of them i thought let you know take them to your local recycling depot and they will take them for about $4

think you got ripped off mate. my local recycling depot took an old car battery, and paid me! i reckon it was more than $4 too, although they weighed it first, and it was a big battery, so i think it goes on the weight of the unit.

My local Battery World gives you $10 discount on a new one for them.
But they take the battery as the delivery fee if they bring the new battery to you.
I took the second option for convenience at the time as the money involved is trivial.

A really good trick is to carefully empty out the acid from the battery and bung it it in a glass jar. Then if you dip your (chrome) shower head into it for a few seconds then flush it in clean water it comes up a treat - like brand new.
