Next years amateur league
Anyone know the latest on the re-structuring of Amateur footy next year and how Div 7 will be affected by it?

If true, it would be predicated on the league splitting into two divisions again.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

There's huge whispers about it. I'm not sure why either Glenunga or the Southern League would advocate this venture.

No offense, but at least they'll give Hackham a good game.

No restructure, staying the same as it currently is.

Not sure why a struggling Div6 club would want to move to the SFL? at least in the SAAFL they have the chance to drop down a grade or 2, be instantly competitive & re-build rather than trying to attract new players to a team thats getting pounded every week.
Maybe it's purely financial?

Highly doubtful I would suspect. A bottom 5 div 7 standard side joining the SFL. Would be pure insanity.

I hear a lot of the southern sides are considering it as its cheaper and less distance to travel for many. There are carrots being offered to increase the southern league strength.

What could they possibly offer other than petrol vouchers for the team? There's not a lot down there!

Re: Next years amateur league
I think you will find that its not "Alot of sides". Maybe a couple but then they realise for them to be competative it will cost them serious $$ on player payments which far outweigh the cost saved with affiliation fees. A club such as Edwardstown without knowing for sure would have already paying a fair amount in player payments to be competative in div 1 and 2 SAAFL, so then it would appear from the outside they would be better off financially....

we should be...
off field revenue would double, expenditure would be down on things like affiliation fees, while we wouldnt be a "top club" we'd be competitive, and we wouldnt be playing ina league that runs like a dictatorship...
Why Plympton would "definately" not be interested is rediculous, we would be insane not to at least look at it, and it would be a disgrace if we didnt entertain any ideas for it to occur.
Not saying that it would still turn out to be better, but the idea should be entertained at least!
