The problem with Barcelona is that I like fish and chips but they had to turn it into calamari and patatas

SARL season kicks off with an 8 a side comp April 5th, followed by 3 weeks of pre season games before season proper.
Six teams in first grade and Reserve grade is back as "League 11's"

The NRL has officially put an offer forward to the Sharks to relocate ALL home games to Adelaide.
The offer is rumored to include a very large cash price and other concessions...

Where did you hear this?
''I can't think back to a time where Australia have been so convincingly beaten'' - Mark Taylor in regards to the 2010/11 Ashes series.

Rather not tell you my sources incase it gets them into trouble lol. One is very high up in the ARL though, the other high up in the SARL.
The good thing about SA rugby league is being such a small association we have a much more direct link and network with the ARL..

maybe they are more helpful as they want to develop the SA market much like the AFL give Sydney and Brisbane free rides

Re: South Australia Rugby League
I've thought something would have been on the cards for a while now.
The other one was the SA Gov sponsoring the Sharks, in the same way Tasmania does Hawthorn, and the deal to include ''X'' amount of games in Adelaide each season.
Would a set-up for a team from Adelaide in the NSW Cup with the goal of eventual promotion to the NRL similar to what the WA/Perth Reds have in place be a better option though?

Your not far off the mark with the SA gov sponsoring the Sharks, they are investing a decent sum of money as well, and unfortunately they want to see large numbers at the game for their money or they wont throw it towards league again. I think last game cost the gov and SARL nearly 80k to get penrith & melb to play. But the plan will be like Hawthorns except most $$ coming from the ARL.
As for the NSW cup like WA, unfortunately the corporate $$ and support and foundation just isnt here like in WA. Rugby league is very strong in WA and they did a MASSIVE amount of ground work to get the beam cup side. If we did, it would fail, we dont have the cattle here in the state etc to mount such a bid..

Re: South Australia Rugby League
SA have formed their state squads for 2011, and are currently in negotiations to have a rep side placed into the SG ball comp in 2012.
Also planned rep trial with a "North v South" game early in 2011 to be played at Hindmarsh Stadium with a few ex NRL players coming over as guest players.
Massive step forward for SA.
