Burraboys is here. Hello to all posters i have yet to meet and gday to those who have followed me up from div 5 (turk and co). Let the banter begin.
Obviously my poll vote has gone toward GG but who is expected to threaten for the title? I have read many posts recently suggesting the jump from 5 to 4 is not huge so will other clubs expect GG and greenacres to be serious contenders again?

when lutheran and fitzroy were in div 5 in 2007 they were decent teams ....or tho we never got near fitzroy but we beat adelaide at there ground. shit change rooms at adelaide lutheran but had a VERY tall side. dont expect to win to many taps in the ruck if there ruckman from 07 is still there. fitzroy have, well had a good mixture of talls and smalls and decnt forwards which we ( plympton ) struggled to match up for some reason.

Re: SAAFL Div 4 & 4R (2009)
I posted this after all the GF talk in the previous thread, decided to let it get lost and bring it back up in here.
This mail came from Bassett himself, after a poker game. So even if he dioes have ties with ALFC, perhaps his ties with Fitzroy's coach are closer.
You don't have to answer Punk, just putting this out there is all.

I could possibly deny that for him. Nathan has a close association with Adelaide Lutheran FC. watches the Dogs when ever he can and keeps in contact with school mates involved with the club.
So I would change the club to Lutherans then I might be able to believe it.......

Adelaide Lutheran and Fitzroy are both good sides and didn't make the finals this year. So it may be harder than you think.

We did only lose that one game out of our last 10.
Of course then the GF
But beat Fitzroy twice this year - after everyone was pumping them up late in the year
so hopefully looking to push into the 5 this year.

I agree with that, CBC were a reasonable team on their day too. D4 will be very open again in 2009, i'd expect PAOC to be very competitive again though.

well, we did beat Portland @ home, & had a very narrow loss to them at Portland (amid controversy about how much time was left

We worked out what the problem was there - your bloke was still on daylight saving time...
Seriously, both Portland vs Fitzroy games were rippers. Both sides played a similiar brand of footy, and matched up well against each other. We lost our first 3 games this year, only lost 2 more for the year after that - couldn't beat Haven, but knocked off PAOC 3 times.

Re: SAAFL Div 4 & 4R (2009)
Felch, all the Fitzroy v Portland games were rippers- the B Grade 1st Semi-Final (Fitzroy 1 pt), the C Grade Elimination Final (Fitzroy 9 pts), R1 A Grade (Fitzroy 1pt), R10 A Grade (Portland 5 pts) & C Grade (Fitzroy 1 pt)
Fitzroy A, B & C Grade all had a 1 point win over Portland- anamazing stat!

G'Day all. Not sure if I'll officially be here yet but I'll say hey anyway.
I'd expect Golden Grove, PAOC, Fitzroy and Greenies to all make finals, with GG being the pacesetters (no pressure lads

Even though they haven't gone anywhere they have made the finals the last 4-5 years.
