Shes a ring a ding ding game at Alberton,

Massive 3rd stanza by the Roosters, certainly deserve their lemons at Lemon time

Hard to pick a winner here, Port never lay down

Lemon time sees the Roosters in front

North 11.6

Port 9.6

Roosters keep their impressive performances over the years at Alberton in tact

still think they would have the best win ratio against Port at alberton over the years

Final scores

North 14.7

Port 11.8

Only highlight was jousting with the over officious security guard.

North have easily the best record of any opposition team at Alberton. I mentioned this fact a few years ago and someone queried suggesting that Norwood and Central might have better records. It was found that North had won many more times than any other opposition side at Alberton.
I know I quote this stat every time North win at Alberton, but yesterday was the 27th time I have seen North win at Alberton. I know I am an old man of 71, but it is incredible how North has had so much success at Alberton. I don't know the stats but I wouldn't be surprised if North have won more times at Alberton than they have beaten Port at Prospect.
Old timer Port supporters I worked with always suggested that Alberton, with its sandy base suited North's fast running, high marking style in the days when the SANFL was fair dinkum and Port were the kings.
With out being too rude, the Port side yesterday was one of the poorest Port sides I have ever seen.
North's second half was quite good. A few of the young little men showed a bit and Oliver Francou looks to be an AFL player in the making. Has he improved or is there a flaw in his game that made Port let him go.

Fist game i saw of footy was Port and North at Alberton, my family were one eyed Port supporters and wanted me to do the same. North were down the bottom of the ladder at the time and came out and beat Port who were top by some margin. Remember the old man being so peed off, as we were walking out i found a ten pound note on the ground, must have thought this was a sign, barracked for North ever since

I reckon that the game to which you refer was in August 1965. Port led by 17 points at 3/4 time, but North stormed home to win by 15 points. This probably belongs in the History section, but it was the only game I ever saw Geof Motley beaten. Malcolm Dixon ran rings around him, Don Lindner turned it on against Port as he seemingly always did and Robert Taylor tooks some fine marks up forward in the last quarter. Ironically two years later when Motley came to North as coach he banished Taylor and Dixon to the seconds. Of course, Port went on to win the 1965 flag and North missed the finals.
