Terrible game of football, must’ve been even uglier on TV. As others had said we were waiting for the game to break open but it just didn’t happen. The standard of umpiring matched the standard of the game, very average.

Even though we led by 24 points it didn’t feel like we wanted to go on with it. Overall, Norwood were pathetic and only lost by 8 points in the end, probably the only positive.

That McBean snap down the northern end was pure class.

Legs = Bitches :D
Unfortunately more Sheedy garbage.
Outcoached once again.
Bays were putrid for 3 quarters, Legs over butchered the ball, but more of a concern is the way they folded like a pack of cards in the last.

Bays should never have been in it at lemon time.
Our style is absolutely garbage. It didn’t stand up to the heat last year and it won’t this year.
Everyone could see that momentum shifted early in the last yet he tried nothing to slow it down and get it back on our terms.
He’s bang average
I’d have him back at Oval Ave!

Glenelg hung tough to snatch a character-building eight-point win against Norwood at Stratarama Stadium.

The Tigers led for just three minutes of the match and went without a goal for nearly an hour but still managed to conjure a stirring triumph under new coach Matthew Clarke.

Denying the Redlegs their first win at Brighton Road in nine years, the Bays slammed through 5.3 to the visitors’ one behind in the final quarter in front of a bumper crowd of 5125.

Kicking just two goals across the first three quarters, the Tigers finished with a flurry as captain Liam McBean booted two goals in the defining period including a brilliant dribbling snap on his left foot.

But it was former Sturt midfielder Joel Thiele, in just his second game for Glenelg, who put his team in front with a curling snap in the 25th minute.

Just two minutes later, Tiger Luke Partington sealed the deal with a set shot from 35m after earning a free kick for holding-the-ball.

Partington finished with 23 disposals while Corey Lyons (25 disposals) and Thiele (21 disposals, 10 in final term) were all important contributors.

Ruckman Cam McGree worked his way into early form by earning Hostplus Super Player status with 22 disposals, four marks and nine clearances against Magarey Medallist Harry Boyd.

Norwood’s Nik Rokahr (31 disposals, seven clearances) and Baynen Lowe (26 disposals) found plenty of the Sherrin while Aaron Francis marshalled the defence with 23 disposals and six marks.

Redlegs Tristan Binder, Jacob Kennerley and Charlie Molan each booted two goals.

5125 - good crowd considering the low number of Norwood supporters compared to previous years.

It seemed bigger than that watching on TV.
Surprisingly the Prospect crowd was bigger. It was announced as 5,600 during the game.

It was announced as 4444 at the game, so to hear it was over 5000 is good.

Agree about the lower than usual number of Norwood supporters.
I personally put that down to the how hard it is to find somewhere to stand at Glenelg Oval now. Everyone seems to be in chairs, at the back of the mound, leaving little room for those of us who wish to stand. Unley is the same.
Don't look at me in that tone of voice.

Huh? The barrels with stools on umbrella hill at the back are on a raised step. Everyone in front of them stands (I know this as this is where I stand). You can stand behind the interchange benches, SW pocket (Snouts Hill), SE pocket in front of the scoreboard, centre wing outer side, NW pocket in front of the cricket club on the concourse, even behind the goals at both ends. Sorry, that excuse doesn’t wash with me.

Disagree about the number of supporters Norwood there. Northern end and surrounding pockets were 75% Norwood supporters. Was even a healthy congregation in the South West pocket.

I thought the overall number there was probably 2/3k short of what they waiting for.

Anyway what a garbage game and awful advertisement for the SANFL being on TV. Skills were atrocious for both sides, Glenelg just wanted it more.

$10 for cans of SuperDry is a disgrace too.
