I was referring to Jake Baker, who is a good 0 point addition for Kersbrook.
A Macclesfield junior originally who has been at Onkas on & off since the 2018 season.
The family felt that we didn't try hard enough to recruit him at the end of 2023.
No doubt the premiership win of last year would have blindsided them as i seriously doubt they saw that coming but probably made the ill will even worse, if you know what I mean.
We tried a lot harder than the club he ended up at in 2024, put it that way

Seems I may have underestimated the Brookers, always something fraught with dangerdoubletrouble wrote:Kersbrook have recruited well.FlyingHigh wrote:Ladder Predictions (after finals):
Top three similar to last year, a little bit of movement around the middle
Kangy
Maccy
Echunga
Bridgewater - Obviously a bit of an unknown but some handy recruits
Birdwood
Kersbrook
Meadows
Gum - Hopefully they can field teams every week and be competitive
TV - Still bottom but won't be as bad as last year

Good times too going to cricket finals in those years.Cougar wrote:Shame Mount Pleasant won't get used for the GF. I would hope they are not considering playing a Grand Final on Mount Torrens Oval.
What are the other options for the HFL? would they look to move it to the next club in line? or host at another HFL oval that's suitable to host?
Driven past a couple times recently and looked really green and in good nick for this time of year, but that of course is not getting out onto it to see how it really is.
According to Facebook Williamstown oval offered to host their Mount Pleasant games but the club declined and are looking at other options. Not sure what other options they'd have in the Hills during the middle of winter for ovals that aren't already being played on and chopped up, including Mt Torrens. Springton or Eden Valley would be sentimental but can't imagine the ovals or facilities would be in great nick.
Birdwood would be next and that last hosted the Nairne V Bridgey mudpit GF 10 years ago.

Mmhm, watched a few Lenswood premierships as a kid there, generally against either Lobey or Woodside. It's not that Birdwood lost but the margin a bit of a surprise.
Meadows took it up to Kersbrook for a bit

Interesting results so far in the first few Rounds.
Seems like the competition apart from Macclesfield - who are the clear stand outs - will be a close one.

Re: HFL Division 2 (Country)
Couple of interesting ones this week (taking out Kersbrook will most likely get over Gumeracha & Echunga to take care of Torrens Valley) .
Meadows Vs Macclesfield- will show how much improvement Meadows done in the off season this week- they took it up to Kerbrook for a good 3 quarters, so it will be an interesting game on the newly extended Meadows oval. Is this the first game being played with the oval upgrade? Hopefully is a closer one than it was last year. But still see Macclesfield being too strong here for Meadows and to get up by 5 goals plus.
then
Birdwood Vs Kanagrilla- Birdwood got off to a good start but then lost to Bridgewater at home. With Kangarilla now sitting 1 and 2 another loss would not be the start to the season they were expecting given they have some late in-season recruits! Depends on who is available for selection for both sides - seems both have had a string of injuries - but at full strength I would expect Kanagarilla to get the win here.

Re: HFL Division 2 (Country)
Credit to Meadows, they always are competitive in the big games v Macclesfield, regardless of perceived standing at the time.
Brad Inglis a very good pick-up for Kersbrook and a man with a very interesting football past and a one time team mate of current Macclesfield ruckman Tony Gibson at Broadview, way back in 2012.
His 85 goals for Noarlunga last year would suggest he's still got it

My identity is known by some on here and last season I did have to be very careful what I put on here and even though things have changed and I don't have to worry so much now, it's a hard habit to breakThe Bedge wrote:Maybe he's just an interesting guy?saintal wrote:More riddles than a cryptic crossword on this thread lately

Kersbrook won the battle of the undefeated at Maccelsfield. Maccy only dropped one match last season which was also to the Brookers.

Re: HFL Division 2 (Country)
Thats a good win by Kersbrook - seems they have put together a strong list to be back up and competing again this year. Or was Macclesfield missing a few from the previous seasons GF win.
