Look the passing conversation over a beer has taken place amongst some guys but that's as far as it gone at this stage.

I would think highly unlikely for next season but wouldn't rule out in future years it is happening.

The fact Burra have moved will tempt the Booborowie element of Spalding/Boob to make the move given Burra/Booborowie are together with football.

It's a tad of generational thing, 2 years ago when we won the flag that playing group myself included have absolutely loved NACA and would not have considered moving, in the last two years that playing group has changed and they are a younger bunch that are from Spalding/Boob but do seem to associate more with Clare for work, personal and partying than the previous playing group so that lure is there for them.

It wouldn't be the worst thing if Spalding did, i reckon if they did move, we would see the likes of Alex Morgan, Lachie Wilsdon, Matt Longbottom, Zac Fielding be tempted to have one year of Spalding cricket in the Stanley. Might even roll the arm over again myself for one year if that were to happen.

Oh ok. Would be the logical choice seeing as their colts are with Stanley and also geographically.

Shouldn’t need lights.
Barossa senior colts play on Friday nights. They start at 5 and play 40 overs with no lights.
The B grade could start at say 5:30-6pm and get 30 overs in

Agree Jim, i think the plan is to start at 6pm. 30 overs a side, keeping in mind most games won't go to the death. Obviously play in blocks of 5 overs at one end. Also have a real quick innings break turnover.

I assumed a 6pm start time for 30 over games meant bat one week, bowl the second.

If you are planning on getting 60 overs in, even at just 3 minutes per over (internationals work on 4 minutes, most amateur cricket does 3.5mins per over), you are already at 3 hours, before including a change of innings.

Also, with more wickets per over (ie: 10 wickets in 30 overs, not over an 80 over day), you'll find getting through the overs in under 3.5minutes will be very very difficult.

Starting at 6pm, you'll get a maximum of 2.5 hours play in before sunset.
No chance you can get through 60 overs plus a change of innings.

Agree with Trader, I played a few evening games in Pirie a few years ago starting at 5:30 in a t20 and I was extremely glad we batted first because the ball was getting hard to see in the 2nd innings. That was with a 5 over changeover as well.

Lower North's Todd McPharlin retiring from senior cricket. Still an exceptional player and I'm sure he'll still be required to fill in from time to time but what a career he's had. From PlayCricket which isn't comprehensive:

Congrats to Lower North White and Auburn/Mintaro winning the 2025/26 A1 and A2 flags respectively.

It will be interesting to see where the competition is at come the start of the ‘26/27 season. With A/M winning the past three A2 flags and other clubs combining to keep the B grade competition afloat, will the association just go with the one grade next season or continue on as is?
