Cambodia/Vietnam
Hey everyone, heading to Cambodia & Vietnam in July with the wife (will be hot I know!).
Any must do’s, or suggestions on where to stay or anything would be appreciated.
Cheers

Re: Cambodia/Vietnam
Depends what you like doing.
We have been a few times and Vietnam has big weather fluctuations between the South, North and Central parts.
We have been in mid July and HaNoi was pushing 40 and had a heap of rain with humidity at 90% every day. HCMC was low 30’s and much drier humidity wise. Infrastructure is still very much third world so travel can be a bit of a chore but domestic flights are cheap. Most people do the triangle in Vietnam of flying into HaNoi/HCMC and then over to DaNang and/or HaLong bay betfore flying out of HCMC/HaNoi. You can tack on a side tour to Cambodia from HCMC. Where you go depends entirely on what you want to do or see plus your personal interests

Wife and I turn 50 this year and 3 mates turn 60, Vietnam was on the cards but some health and other matters have got in the way so 2026 it is.

Re: Cambodia/Vietnam
3 nights in HaNoi is about right and it’s all subjective but personally I think HCMC is better than HaNoi but HaNoi is preferred for a lot of tour operators as it’s only about 3hr drive to HaLong Bay.Corona Man wrote:I will be interested to know how it goes. 4 nights in Hoi An is excellent and definitely a couple of nights in Da Nang if you have the time.

Re: Cambodia/Vietnam
I got dragged up to Sun World Ba Na Hills in Da Nang https://banahills.sunworld.vn/en
I thought it would be a wasted afternoon but actually enjoyed it
Depends if you have a whole afternoon spare as you have to get up there and back
Quite an amazing build on top of a mountain

I’d be keen to hear your top 5 places you’ve visited in Asia?
Got a few places mapped out also but wife and I can’t decide or agree.

Re: Cambodia/Vietnam
Just booked 3 weeks in Vietnam for October.
Been there multiple times so this trip is just pretty much relaxing at various beach resorts

Re: Cambodia/Vietnam
Less than 3 weeks away now, not that I’m counting.
Route is a bit longer than we wanted but points flights so availability is getting harder and harder to come by.
Going Adelaide to Melbourne on Qantas then Melbourne to Bangkok on Thai, 3hr stopover then on to Jakarta with Thai. 2 days in Jakarta then off to Ho Chi Minh City and then Phu Quoc. 5 days in Phu Quoc at a resort and then 4 days in DaNang at a resort. Going to then shoot off to Hong Kong for a few days and that leaves me a week most likely in Cambodia before coming home with Vietnam airlines.
