Hello? Hello? Hello? (waits for tumbleweed to pass...)
The bad news for you lot is that the 18th ranked mob didn't sign up and you've ended up with an even better number one seed than you had before. Such is the joy of Division II. Get up here and you are playing with the big boys but this year the bottom four are GAWNSKI. Reckon Gibbo (that's if she actually signs up) might be the team to beat but Some Can't and Greedy Guns will strongly challenge. Underbelly have been in this division for a while and usually gets to the finals before running out of gas. Maybe this year for the mob. Reckon my BIL cobras is a monty to go down from this league but Creation needs a big to avoid the same plus have a spoon for the kitchen as well. Two up four down at it ladies and gents!
League season average: 51773
League weekly average: 2251
Division II finally got underway with a huge clash as the league’s two leading scorers met in the first round. As the weekend finished it was Underdogs who came out on top with a 14 point win over their rivals Duromine Dependent who have to regather their forces. Greedy Guns is the lowest scoring team of the league but now premiership points are up for grabs they pounced on Cobras who has produced to shit scores in a row after a bright start. Adelaide Crows are also up and about in the scoring and they started their year off with a bang against their fellow Blackbird the Professor. SteveFrom Guidance guided his side to victory over Blighty whose defence leaked 2008 points a first round loss for the Peckers. Cathy’s Cream also did a bit of a Greedy Guns act by springing into life once the matches start as they made short work of Divvy II regular Underbelly. What a shame my sister won’t see my latest short joke. Meanwhile the mighty Pigs Arsenal outgunned the Power…I love playing ‘Portie’ teams as Port players are SC poison…well, except for Zutters.
Yes we’ve got the close one folks, or at least that is what it looks like after the opening fortnight of Divvy II action. Only two sides unbeaten which means the majority of this league is sitting 1-1 so fairly pointless trying to predict which way the cards will fall here this season. Star of the show in Round 2 was the Ugly Ducklings who smashed out 2291 to crunch an unlucky Cossi who finds himself in 16th spot. Adelaide Crows are on top of the ladder after their close victory and 2nd ranked Some Can’t had an even tighter match against highly rated Cathy’s Cream. Perhaps the biggest surprise so far in Divvy II is the ongoing stinky scoring of Greedy Guns who are normally a force during the minor round. Keep watching the skis!
A few weeks ago the Adelaide Crows were flying but in recent times they’ve come a bit of a cropper. Raymond’s online version of the team for all South Australians is following the same script as the genuine article as they got left behind by the Round 4 scoring bonanza. Ray phoned in a sub-par 2282 which wasn’t enough to threaten contender Marty McFlys who strolled to victory. Scoring was well down in Division II (like Division III) and like III again one of the teams that bucked the trend copped a high scoring loss as Cathy’s Cream failed to rise to the top despite racking up 2400 in their unlucky loss to Professor Crow. If a league is not up to snuff it’s time to blame the number one seed, @Sharksta’s Underdogs who are now meandering along in the relegation zone. There’s a real opportunity here to snaffle a promotion to Division I, so long as a team puts up their virtual hand to grab it.
There is a gaggle of teams fighting out for leadership of Hogg Division II but it is Ugly Ducklings who sounded a warning quack to the rest of the competition after they smashed out 2620 to smash the unlucky Adelaide Crows who didn’t have a bad round themselves. Underbelly have made it four on the trot now with their win over Blighty while Professor Crow taught Some Cant a lesson as the Cants copped their first defeat of the year. Those other Carnts, the Cossi kind, kept up with their winning ways as they smashed Failed Creation while Marty McFlew to the top of the ladder after a good win over Guidance. Crow Call opened their account on the weekend at the expense of Prules leaving pre-season favourite and highest ranked team Underdogs stone motherless last on the table.
Greedy Guns went into this season as one of the picks for promotion but haven’t been firing so far in season 2025. No problemo, I’ ve got the bottom side he thinks…nek minnet Underdogs 2508! If a 478-point win by the bottom side doesn’t float your boat maybe consider that the new bottom side scored 2402 and lost to top side McFlys by a mere 25 points last week. There are going to be a few unlucky teams kicking around in Division III next season if the first six weeks are anything to go by. A couple of the top sides hit the deck on in round six with Cants Cossi and Some going down as well as Ugly Ducklings who also got sunk. It’s a handy week for Underbelly and Professor Crow while Failed Creation, Cobras, Power Rules and Duromine Dependent will be well pleased with their work this week.
Underbelly’s win over Professor Crow has left McFly sitting pretty at the top of table all alone on six wins. It was a bad week for Cant kind with Some Cant coping a heavy defeat to Prules while Pigs Arsenal thumped Cossi’s Carnts and they ended up outside the eight as a result. Cobras and Underdogs are back in town and you can say the same about Guidance as they climbed the ladder at the expense of Adelaide Crows, Duromine and Cathy. Crow call is stiffer than a teenager’s sock as they once again scored well and were once again beaten as Ugly Ducklings took flight. Somehow Greedy Guns isn’t last but that only looks a matter of time if the Big Show can’t fix his scoring.
Some Cant have defended their spot in the top eight with a thrilling seven-point win over league leader Marty McFlys. Yes, it was back to the future for the Cants who have been a dominant Division II side who haven’t quite managed to earn their Divvy I stripes somehow. Professor Crow and Ugly Ducklings did enough without starring to put the heat on Marty but the big winners this week were Pigs Arsenal, Underdogs and Failed Creation who consolidated their spot in the eight with Underdogs in particular doing well after being at the bottom of the table a month ago. Crow Call have been knocking on the door for a win for weeks and finally broke through which left Cathy’s Cream and Duromine Dependent scrambling at the foot of the table. This league is extremely tight though with one match separating the eight and two the bottom ten. No one is really out of it yet but here come the byes to put kibosh on everyone.
The Ugly Ducks handed out a father of a hiding to Battling Blighty to keep the heat on Marty McFly who just got out of Hill Valley as he got by the Professor. The Cobras yo yo kept rolling with a brilliant 2159 which keeps them in the hunt as they spanked Power Drules. Pigs Arsenal had a cracker against Adelaide Crows who looked to have it won until he had the wrong Daicos. Ouch. Underdogs are clinging to the top eight at the moment with the Guidance missile hot on their tails. In struggle town Blighty’s big loss has dropped him right in it with Cathy’s Cream who failed to rise last weekend. Greedy isn’t scoring this year so their percentage is a worry while Duromine hasn’t fire a shot so far this season with a lamentable 2-8 record.
Plenty of teams went big, some teams went big and lost but our new league leader scored bugger all and won and went top of the ladder. Ugly Ducks didn’t impress but has done enough after eleven rounds to head all comers after they taught Professor Crow a SuperCoach lesson. The big scorer for the round was Underdogs with their 2099 while the dead stiff Some Can’t earned the silver spud award with the second highest score of the round but still losing. Some Cant deserves to be in the eight but the table is not flattering for the Cants at the minute. Steve pulled out all the stops to roll Pigs Arsenal who was the other high scoring loser for the week. Cobras are another decent side somehow outside the eight and they were most impressive as they knocked Marty McFly off the top of the ladder with their win. Crow Call got done with 2000 as well and they’ve copped a few of those losses now. Surely they don’t go down. Duromine got off the bottom of the ladder while Adelaide Crows got back amongst the winners list by dumping Greedy Guns into last in Duromine’s place. Reckon there are eleven teams in the fight for this flag so a pretty close league. Four of the current bottom five will probably go down with Power Drules getting the vital win against Underbelly to stay afloat for now.
The Ugly Ducklings have snuck away from the pack after 12 rounds after recorded a comfortable victory over the inconsistent Cobras. McFly got done again, this time by Power Drules who are still outside the eight despite the upset win. A few other top eight sides came a cropper as well as Pigs Arsenal, Guidance, Professor Crow and Underbelly all got rolled. This is good news for Underdogs who are now back in the top four and Adelaide Crows who have recovered from a mini slump to get back into the top eight. A few of the stragglers got their mojo back with the exception of Blighty who are now faves for the drop to Division III next season. Crow Call has always looked out of place at the rear of the field and they proved it this week with a league high 2200 which eclipsed then top four side Pigs Arsenal. Greedy Guns got off their Arsenal with an overdue solid win and Duromine and Cathy also won so not a good look for Blighty right now.
McFly is back in a big way after trouncing ladder leaders Ugly Ducks last weekend. While the Ducks still head the table and can afford a loss at this point of the season it’s a serious shot across the bow for the ladder leaders. Underdogs and Cobras have a good two league rivalry going on and in the Division II instalment it is Underdogs who have the edge after Gibbo won their high-quality contest. Professor Crow shored up their top four credentials while Pigs Arsenal did not as they got crunched by Some Cant. Teams on six wins at the moment are dreaming of finals but also worrying about relegation at the same time. Crow Call has been trending upwards despite this week’s high scoring loss while Adelaide Crows and Failed Creation would be worried about their scoring at the minute considering that Greedy Guns and Duromine Dependent in particular appear to have found something late. Cathy can feel particularly aggrieved with their loss and will also need to turn things around sharpish.
One week till finals and ladder leaders haven’t yet sealed the minor premiership despite their massive victory over Duromine last week. McFly hung on in a tight one against Underdogs in a high quality contest that has left the pre-season top seed clinging to her top eight spot with Cobras, Creation, Cossi and Power Drools all lurking behind on percentage. Cobras have the best chance mathematically but won’t be gaining much percentage against Pigs Arsenal but Underdogs faces and even tougher match up against Ugly Ducklings. This opens the door for the other three teams on eight wins with Power Drools and ****’s playing each other rather than top opposition but for Drools in particular, there’s a lot that needs to go right from there. Guidance should hang on to their top four spot as I reckon Greedy Guns are back in town and they’ll make life tough for the professor and Some Can’t won’t beat Guidance by enough to get his spot even if he wins. In the relegation battle the key match up is Cathy vs. Crow Call and I reckon Crow Call will be too strong and send the current bottom four down to Divvy III next season.
Marty McFly jumped into his flying DeLorean and soared over every other coach in Hogg history with a majestic Hogg record 2905 that left a flailing Failed Creation in his wake. McFly’s scorefest was enough for Marty to win the minor premiership after the Ugly Ducklings were considerate enough to get rolled by Underdogs who booked their finals place with the victory. It’s hard to recall a more impressive effort by any league than Divvy II’s scoring this week with even relegated Blighty and Duromine with a whopping 2808 getting in on the act. The reward for Duromine’s career best score? Relegation! Man tough crowd. It should be a cracking finals series but after posting over 2900 it’s hard to see anyone other than Marty going up to Divvy I next season, but who joins him that is the trick. McFly should start favourite against Guidance while Pigs Arsenal will fancy some Duck in their quallie. In the knockouts I reckon Underdogs should be far too strong for Underbelly but Underbelly has traditionally been a bit of a bogey side for @Sharksta so who knows. Some Cant should have the scoring power to teach the Professor a lesson but who knows after last week. For the stragglers spare a thought for Power Drools who missed out on a finals place by a mere 0.65 percent point. No justice in this world. Meanwhile, Cathy’s Cream got the job done in the last round to escape by the skin of her teeth as Crow Call are down with Adelaide Crows, Duromine and Blighty.
Last week it was Marty who went huge but full marks to Guidance who trumped Marty when it mattered to move within one win of a promotion into Hogg Division I. Ugly Ducklings was the other double chance team that came a cropper as they fell short of Pigs Arsenal on the day. Underdogs racked up the points to sink Underbelly while Some Cant enjoyed a relatively soft kill against the Professor. Marty McFly has gone from Hogg record breaker one week to fighting for promotion two weeks later with a very tough assignment pending with Underdogs. Ugly Ducklings and Some Cant should be a close one as well with the Ducklings slight favourites in that tie.
The ladies may have ruled the roost in Division III during Semi Final week but in Division II they did not. McFly bounced back from a shock Qualifying final loss to see off a determined challenge from the Underdogs while second ranked Ugly Ducklings had a finals series to forget as she bowed out in straight sets to Some Cant in their Semi Final. The Cants got off to a flyer this season but went missing for a while there and fell to as low as 10th but they are right amongst at this business end of the season. In Division II it is the winners of the Preliminary Finals who go up to Division I. Minor Premier McFly is one of those teams even if he can’t beat Pigs Arsenal this week as Pigs can’t get promoted but I think Marty has me covered anyway. The other Prelim is much tougher to pick Guidance has shown they have a very high ceiling and provided that Grundy captaincy wasn’t the reason for that there’s no reason that SteveFromGuidance can’t make the Grand Final and be a Division I coach next year. I have a hunch the fall of Grundy won’t help Steve much and that it will be Some Cant who goes up to Divvy I next year along with Marty. Some Cant has looked like going up to Divvy I for many seasons now and it might finally be his year.
It's Preliminary Final weekend and in Division II that means we finally find out which teams are going up to Division I next season. After many seasons of competitive play in Division II, Some Cant finally had his day on Prelim Final round with a sensational 2 point come from behind win against an unlucky Guidance. Guidance has roared home at the back end of the season and has shown you don't have to be dead to miss out after being a free kick away from being promoted. Cant deserves his shot though after somehow missing out year after year but at last the weight is over. The other Prelim was a lot more of a regulation as one of the best teams in the Hogg had a cakewalk over what is left of Pigs Arsenal who are down three premo players and were all out of options. McFly has been the team to beat all year.
In the Grand Final McFly has been the team to beat all year but the expected loss of Ranine could throw a spanner in the works for them. Some Cant has Zerret to bring so Liddy stays on field while Jacrae goes up front. McFly does not have a Zerrett on the bench so he will need to trade to cover that or risk Boxhead. I reckon Can't can and that he'll pip Marty and take home the premiership in an extremely close game. Might even be two points again so all eyes on scaling for the flag. While there might be four eyes on the scaling, there hasn't been too many eyes on this thread which has the least engagement out of all the Hogg Leagues on safooty. Congratulations you kents, see you next year...maybe.
Congratulations Marty McFlys who are the Division II premiers in 2025. Marty has been travelling so well he even won the premiership carrying a donut into battle. Some Cant could have got there if he opted for X captaincy and benched Knevitt instead of Liddy and Ross The Boss has sunk many SuperCoaches with the farcical decision to start Jacrae as sub and this cost the Cants as well. In the end Marty too good and these boys will moving on up to Divvy I next season. Well played gentlemen.
