Sack them all!! ;)
Theekshana spun a web and the dismissal of Ellis was a funny one.

Had to laugh at the cricket.com.au headline: "Asalanka's rescue act turns tables on undermanned Aussies".

We were undermanned by choice and it isn't too far off of who will be lining up for the Champions Trophy. I could understand if this was an audition for the comp but it's basically to see who fill fill up the couple of gaps that we have.

There are 4 players in yesterdays team that don't belong there IMO.

For anyone that watched, did Abbott get clubbed late in the innings to go for 61 off of 9 overs? Seems strange that he went for so many and Hardie went at 2 an over and only bowled 6 overs.

Think Abbotts first over or two went for not many but after that it was money for the taking, a few overs with 10-15 was not surprising, i still dont get over all the love for this guy

Hardie and Ellis bowled superbly, Zampa looked way out of sorts and disinterested, our top 3 should not be there along with Abbott IMO with perhaps Short being given a little leaway from some prior knocks but is too inconsistent

He's only played 12 games, don't think he's been that bad since coming into the side - of course would like more runs.

For me I still don't think Labuschagne should be in the ODI side, but really we don't have a lot at the moment.

Head, Green, Marsh, Inglis, Maxwell even Stoinis missing changes the whole complexion of the side.

If Cummins was available, feel like he'd take Abbott's spot.

Neither do I, I think we have enough run a ball middle order bats to not require him, if he doesn't get 80-100 he strikes at 75 at best as he's an innings builder, we have one of those already in Smith but he gets his strike rate to near 100 a lot sooner.

Happy to stick with Short, I like the left/right opening combo with Head, Cummins for Abbott like you stated, Starc for Spencer (but Spencer to be a back-up), Maxwell for Connolly and then I guess we have to take Inglis over Marnus. Personally I would've found room for Tim David, I can see why the love for Connolly was there though.

Abbott bowled:

9th - 3 runs
11th - 1 run
13th - 9 runs
15th - 1 wkt, 7 runs
17th - 15 runs

32nd - 1 run

39th - 5 runs
41st - 14 runs

46th - 2 cheap wickets, 6 runs

So his first two overs were tidy, albeit Sri Lanka had 2 new bats at the crease and were 4/40, so not trying to hit anyone.
His next 3 went for 31 runs and started to give them some momentum.

His 1 over spell in the 32nd was tidy, but that was bowled at the new bat who came in after Ellis picked up a wicket the over before.

His 3rd spell was expensive, 2 overs for 19.

His final over in the 46th was when they were going for it, then picked up the number xi after he got the set bat caught on the boundary at deep mid-wicket.

All in all, his 'good' was only cause they were in the poo and blocking, his bad was woeful.

Not that I know of.
Batted without issue too.

I suspect Smith was happy for the boys to chase 200 rather than 130. Wanted to test them out a little.
Unfortunately it tested them a little too much.

Surely Will Sutherland from Vic is a better option than Abbott

Has had a stellar season so far with a heaps of runs and gets wickets cheaply

Abbott is 33 at months end.
Time to move on. Sutherland Perfect replacement. Only 25yrs old.
Also, Mitch Owen and Konstas should be playing in Sri Lanka before JFM and Marnus. Mitch Owen is only 1 yr older than JFM.
JFM is and only will be a franchise cricketer and there’s no benefit long term for Marnus being there.
Owen
Head
Konstas
Smith
Carey
Connolly
Maxwell
Sutherland
Ellis
Johnson
Zampa

I like it!
Not sold on Connolly but haven’t seen enough of him so happy to give the youngster some time.
JFM wouldn’t even make my indoor cricket team

Owen definitely deserved an audition, JFM will find form again eventually but watching his dismissal in the ODI when a berth in the Aussie team was on the line just reeked, you're chasing 4 and a half an over and you're advancing metres down the track on two, smarten up son and work on your technique and temperament.

Keen for Sutherland, I can't for the life of me work out how Dwarshuis got a gig, Steakette, Paris or Behrendorff are much better options.

Ch 157 is Foxtel 7 Mate SD.

The HD channel is 257 (hint, use this one)

Foxtel sometimes glitches on random channels, so just go to another channel then back.

In any case, it’s a free to air channel so can watch it on your TV instead of Foxtel.
