Northern Plains Football League (TBA)

Post by Information HWY »

It’s an open secret that a number of APFL / NEFL clubs have had informal discussions regarding the future of football in the Lower Mid-North/Plains recently.

While the SANFL/SA Country Footy committee have confirmed business as usual for 2025, the following 7/8ish team league might work for 2026 onwards?

Balaklava
Blyth Snowtown
Bute
Hamley Bridge
Hummocks Watchman Eagles
Mallala
United

RSMU, Freeling and Kapunda may have been mentioned, but likely to stay in their leagues

Two Wells, Virginia and Angle Vale are in a tough spot - with some strategic planning, a new league could be cooked up with Trinity Old Scholars, Xavier Old Collegians, Gawler East and/or Roseworthy in the medium term. Other than that, Adelaide Footy League!

No netball in the ADFL would be huge concern for though wouldn't it!

Cant see that league being beneficial for the more southern clubs

Would be a shame to see our biggest rivals Blyth leave the NEFL.

It is inevitable though that there will be some reallocation of leagues over the coming years, with new rivalries built.

Freeling is apparently contemplating a move to the APFL in 2026.
Two Wells potentially swapping places with them and going to BL&G.

Rumours Salisbury West would be interested in reforming if Virginia, Two Wells, Angle Vale were to form something new. As mentioned, TOS and XOC, possibly Roseworthy would make an interesting, developing leauge.

Salis West just launched their soccer club, they won’t bother with footy again.

Would be highly surprised if TOS threw it all in to join junk league also

Huh??!!

Aren’t TOS in the basements of the AdFL, any league from there would be a step up

They are in Div 5, hardly the basement. It’s been a quality division for quite a number of seasons.
