They are certainly active.
The thing is: a club needs to consistently do it year on year to get ahead
No use having a good year or two then bad ones

Apparently Paddy Ryder playing 6 games for West Croydon, however they have lost their ruckman to north haven, josh wills on the move and Dion Doolan is at north Adelaide

West Croydon helped seek a pre season for Doolan, everyone hopes he succeeds but if for any reason he’s not selected he will remain a Hawk. Only with a SANFL pre season under his belt.
Wills is on the move.
Ryder is contracted in Victoria for 2024 fly in fly out. training at the Hawks . Bit more to this one.

So far Mitcham haven’t fared too bad, considering the talk of massive walk outs. Lost their captain, their best mid, their best defender, another running defender and their head trainer. They’ve retained a majority of players who held them together in 2023, so they should be OK. Not sure what the new coach will bring but I wish them well.

Lost their Ruckman? That a huge loss for them.
If they had retained their players from last year, & maybe picked up 2-3 they would be very competitive.
However, their losses will hurt. Big Time.
