There are ways to play for real cash still. The PPpoker app has clubs that offer both cash and tournament games.

It's dumb.
Its to do with the 'inplay' nature of the betting.
You can bet on your apps before the game starts, but have to ring up to bet inplay.
This was to make it harder for losing punters to try and chase losses mid-game.
Poker has betting on every 'street' so is considered in play and therefore can't be done over the internet in australia.
Pokies you don't do over the internet, and you also bet before the event (hit spin and then the result is determined, you can change or edit your bet mid-spin).
Not saying any of it makes it right, but that's the 'justification', if you can call it that.
Plenty of places to still play Pokies online, sadly I know some people done themselves serious mischief.

Re: Poker
WSOP events in looking at are:Trader wrote:Nice Mickey!
Any particular events in mind or will you just go with the flow once you're there?
Event #26: $800 No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack
Event #28: $1,500 Freezeout No-Limit Holdem
Event #31: $600 Mixed No-Limit Hold'em; Pot-Limit Omaha Deepstack
Event #34: $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha
I won't get to play all of them unfortunately, have to spend some time with the mrs [emoji6].
Really liking the look of the 2 smaller buy in events, but never know what the week will have in store
