South Adelaide sign Peter Hudson

Recently read the 1967 Budget on the footyalmanac website.
They had a small paragraph stating South announced they had signed Tasmanian superstar Peter Hudson, but later found out it was a person pretending to be him and was a hoax.
Does anyone recall this and the media coverage it received ?
Does anyone know who the imposter was ?
Never heard of this story before and very interested.
