I just finished entering our scores from yesterday's matches and checking to see if they're all correct on the ASCA Play HQ page and I noticed the bowling figures are now in a Overs, Maidens, Runs, Wickets format and there's no sign on RPO like there originally was. Not sure when that changed or if it's the same for all competitions?

I have not kept up with all the goings on here, however what I have read is all pretty negative.
Here in Vic Play HQ was not adopted this season. Wait to iron out the bugs. However My Cricket is struggling at times with so many games now live scored, and a very good many (including park cricket) on frog box, I think it struggles to deal with the traffic on any given weekend.
1961, 1971, 1976, 1978, 1983, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2008, 2013, 2014, 2015.... And don't you forget it!

I think that was one of the main reasons they didn't go down the 'app' path. They went website rather than app to alleviate the traffic concerns.
Received an email from SACA yesterday asking for thoughts on junior cricket etc, had a few questions at the end about PlayHQ. I encourage all recipients of such emails to provide honest feedback
mycricket was free and worked. playhq costs every player money and doesn't. It's no wonder people are frustrated and upset. At the very least playhq should've been free during the transition to a program that clearly doesn't meet the needs of cricket.

Follow Local cricketers have continued to air their frustrations over an ‘unreliable’ new scoring system being paid for out of their own pocket. PlayHQ – chaired by former Cricket Australia chief James Sutherland – was rolled out for the sport by Cricket Australia earlier this year, but has attracted criticism for lack of cumulative stats, issues with standings and inconsistent live scoring.
Registration structure has changed this season on account of the new system, with each senior player paying $22.50 and each junior player $16 to cover insurance, PlayHQ and a new ‘technology fund’ as opposed to the previous structure which saw clubs paying $130 for each senior team and $90 for each junior team.
An anonymous local player with over 30 years’ experience in the Adelaide Turf Cricket Association said their club, players and staff had been disappointed by the product they paid for and questioned whether CA genuinely wanted to improve the system.
“We get MyCricket was old and we needed something new but we didn’t have to pay extra for MyCricket last season, we would pay our playing subs to the club and clubs would then pay an insurance premium of $130 per senior team,” they said.

Picture: Dean Martin “If we’re putting money in we expect it to be invested back in to grassroots cricket positively but so far that hasn’t been the case and we’re essentially getting nothing back – we need to know the money is actually being put to use.
“Hopefully we see a better product with PlayHQ but it’s been unreliable and there have been a number of issues with stats and live scores – it’s meant to be syncing perfectly with MyCricket at the moment as well but we’ve even had junior teams rock up to the wrong venue because that’s where it was in the system.”
A Cricket Australia spokesperson told The Messenger up to $10 per player was going toward PlayHQ and the development of technology to improve the experience.
“The National Registration Fee (seniors $22.50, juniors $16) includes the pre-existing cost of insurance, the PlayHQ registration fee ($4.80) and a small fee ($4.65) that will help fund the development of technology to improve the experience of clubs and players,” they said.
“The PlayHQ registration fee funds use of the platform including the registration process, competition and club administration and scoring services, and is fully transparent at the point of registration.”

One local footballer said it had a significant impact on volunteers during the season.
“It was a bit of a joke for footy and rolling it over for cricket was an even worse decision,” they said.
“Clubs are already struggling to keep volunteers but the PlayHQ system requires more hours to register players, add scores and costs more money per player to register.”
A CA spokesperson said the body had been working with SACA and other local bodies to ensure a smooth experience.
“Cricket Australia has worked with the SACA, local associations, clubs and volunteers to ensure the smoothest possible transition to the new PlayHQ competition and admin platform.

However, when you get to the point of livescoring, manual scoring, people registering etc. too many issues pop up which become a nightmare for volunteers. The strain it has put on volunteers this season is being ignored. When you have to allocate one of your committee members to be a full-time PlayHQ troubleshooter you know the system isn't working for the people.

The admin side seems to be pretty good but the majority of people are at the front end doing live scoring, so I agree with you. If we hadn't come from MyCricket, we wouldn't be complaining. As i said to someone this weekend just gone, if you learn to score 'now' you'd think it's a breeze. I think we're damaged because of what we had the past few seasons. It's a big step back IMO - and at our cost.
Often we just give up on it before we start and use the book.

Eeehhhh, not sure it 'worked'. It would regularly jam on a Sunday morning across club cricket. Out of the 5 or 6 teams that used it in the club I'd say at least 2 per week had the thing seize up mid game - which as you can imagine is troublesome when you're mid over/mid game.
Yes, you're right though - but I'd go a step further and say they should've used this season to test it fully and iron out all the bugs before launching it as prematurely as they did.
I scored a game of junior cricket on it and it was pretty simple, however somebody else had to do the set up and I didn't finish the game as the ipad went flat with 5 balls to spare, so the last 3 overs were done in the book as well as I wasn't sure when the ipad was going to give up.
As for reading the scores, the local paper this week put a notice in the sports page that no cricket scorecards will now be published in the paper as its too hard for them to get the right info. Now that is a problem as cricket will lose publicity and they may dedicate the extra pages to another sport.
If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!
Had a game opened over the weekend so i could update scores / catches etc that were missed.. checked this morning, the game has adjusted to a draw now - match is locked, game cant be edited.. our side lose their win.
What a crock of shit of a system.
