Re: Australia Cup 2022
As Wedgie notes, the Australia Cup (formerly FFA Cup) Round of 32 for 2022 has been drawn, the first fully open draw in the competition's history.
Note that Western Sydney and Perth failed to qualify. The other ten A-League teams are joined by 22 state league clubs, with Victoria getting an extra spot as no national championship was held last year. Five of the 22 state league clubs are from outside the top tier of state soccer, including the winner of the last qualifiying match which will be played shortly between two northern Queensland sides.
The all-A-League match-ups are:
Newcastle United v Adelaide United
Sydney v Central Coast
Western v Melbourne Victory
The A-League-local club matches are:
Devonport (Tas.) v Wellington
Edge Hill Utd.** (Qld.)/Mackay & Whitsundays United* (Qld.) v Macarthur
Heidelberg United (Vic.) v Brisbane
Newcastle Olympic v Melbourne City
The all-local club matches are:
Bentleigh (Vic.) v Broadmeadow Magic (Nth. NSW)
Peninsula Power (Qld.) v North West Sydney Spirit*
Brisbane City v Cockburn City (WA)
Adelaide City v Logan (Qld.)
Wollongong United*** v Green Gully (Vic.)
Bonnyrigg* (NSW) v Oakleigh (Vic.)
Armadale (WA) v Modbury Jets* (SA)
Mindil (NT) v Avondale (Vic.)
Sydney United v Monaro Panthers (ACT, sort of)
* = from the second tier in state soccer
** from the fourth tier in state soccer
***from the fifth (!!) tier in state soccer
Tough draws for Adelaide United and Modbury. Adelaide City on the other hand have a decent chance at home versus Australia Cup debutants Logan. The matches will be played in late-July or early-August.
@Wedgie can the title of the thread be change to 'Australia Cup 2022'? The final will be played on Saturday, 1 October, 2022.

Re: Australia Cup 2022
The A League is a bit damned if they do and damned if they don't at the moment.
The comp has gone a bit stale and has never really captured the imagination of the public like they would have hoped. On one hand they need a non A-League club to make the final so there is that fairytale cup story, spark some life into the competition.
On the other hand if a non A League club makes it the somewhat public consensus the A-League standard is rubbish and full of recycled players with no real pathway system will be reinforced.

Bit of an ordinary game, but a good result for City.
Kudos to the seven Logan fans who made the journey, and provided everyone with some "expert commentary" during the match.

Re: Australia Cup 2022
The draw for the Round of 16 has revealed a cracker:
Adelaide City v Adelaide United
Modbury Jets* v Macarthur
Bentleigh (Vic.) v Sydney
Sydney United v Western
Avondale (Vic.) v Brisbane
One all-A-League match:
Melbourne City v Wellington
And there'll be at least two semi-pro sides in the last eight:
Oakleigh (Vic.) v Brisbane City
Peninsula Power (Qld.) v Green Gully (Vic.)
* = from the second tier in state soccer
It'll be interesting to see where the City v United game is played. Also good to see Modbury drawn at home against A-League opposition.

Re: Australia Cup 2022
By the rules of the Australia Cup it will be played at Adelaide City's home ground.
Mind you I'd prefer it at Himdmarsh so I could walk there!
Don't think I have any black and white gear that fits though, might have to lend some of Booney.
