2022 SA Country Football Championships - Whyalla

Post by Information HWY »

The 2022 Think! Road Safety SA Country Football Championships will be held for the first time in Whyalla this weekend on July 16 & 17

Southern District are defending champions in the Men’s competition and Northern the Women’s.

The only major zone change is that Eastern now incorporates River Murray FL, who have transferred over from Murray South East, that now becomes South East

Who has the strongest side in 2022?

Such a barrel of laughs, aren't you?

Been to a few now, including last years. Great carnival atmosphere, country footy at it's finest.

Don't think Southern can repeat, I reckon Northern will go back to back in the women's though

Shoe Boy like a lot of us is probably trying work out what benefit a metro league like the SFL gets out of playing in a Country carnival. Other than the maroon coats puffing chests out looking all important../

Sooner SFL is put into the Adelaide Footy League the better

So, scrap the whole of team playing on Saturday for the disjointed juniors on Sunday, Seniors on Saturday? AdelFL would be the worst option for the SFL.

It's no coincidence that teams like Brighton are experiencing a disconnect between juniors and seniors. Kids don't invest in their club and move to play with mates at the drop of a hat, there's no connection with seniors team when you can't stick around for the late game

In regards to the State Champs, ask the blokes that play for Southern how they feel about it. Pretty sure your boy Galley would be a big fan, given he played State Country and all

Men's GF today is the only team to win both it's games yesterday, Central vs South East.

1st vs 2nd: Central (Adelaide Plains, Barossa, North Eastern & Yorke Peninsula) vs South East (KNT, Mid South East & Western Border)
3rd vs 4th: Eyre Peninsula (Eastern Eyre, Great Flinders, Pt Lincoln and Western Eyre) vs Eastern (Hills, Riverland, River Murray and Mallee)
5th vs 6th: Southern (Great Southern, Kangaroo Island and Southern) vs Northern (Broken Hill, Spencer Gulf, Northern Areas, Whyalla and Roxby)

Brighton probably wouldn’t be the best club to refer when supporting your argument. A top 5 ADFL club in the highest standard division in the State. I’m pretty sure their connection with Juniors and Seniors is going ok by their books and their A Grade would belt the suitcases out of any SFL AGrade side going around atm.

Not too sure about that. The U16 group had to merge with the U17.5s to get a side this season. two years ago, this group had 3 teams. There's been a disconnect since they left the SFL. Wouldn't exactly call the A grade top 5 either, given they were fighting off relegation a month ago. Definitely top 8, it's a stupidly even division this year.
