I don't bother trying...just can't sleep on planes so I do what you do and go through the movies one by one with a beer or wine in my hand. Last trip home from China in September I was literally the only one awake on the plane. The Chinese can sleep anywhere!

Long Haul Flights - Survival Tips

Post by Jim05 »

Our last flight to Hong Kong in October I had dinner and 2 scotches, got the FA to make up my bed whilst I went and changed into my PJ’s and fell asleep about 15 minutes into a movie. Forgot to put the do not disturb sign up and they woke me up for brekky about an hour outside of Hong Kong. A good solid 6 hours of sleep. The Virgin seats were so much more comfortable than any other business seat I’ve experienced

Business? Gee whiz, look at Mr Money bags over here. :D
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Majority of our long haul flights in business are paid with points. That many easy ways to get absolute shed loads of Frequent flyer points these days.
Being flexible with dates also helps. Those flights with Virgin in business was just on $1400 each return Adelaide to Hong Kong via Melbourne (economy was $1097 at the time)

I fly economy, but break the trip with a stayover about half way - e.g. Singapore or Dubai.
I also try to avoid overnight flights as I rarely manage to sleep on them.
EPIGENETICS - Lamarck was right!

Have grown increasingly anxious about flying over the years. I know it's irrational, I know it's a combination of claustrophobia and heights, but it's easier said than done to overcome it.

I'm off to Perth in the morning and I feel sick at the prospect of it already.

Sucks balls.
