A couple of HV lads were standing right in the faces of the umpires absolutely teeing off with shocking language and the dreaded cheat word. It almost looked as though it would get physical. No maroon tops in sight so the Brighton official just suggested to the lads that they were behaving like sore losers and to leave the umps alone. At least one of the HV lads was reported and no doubt regretting his actions 24 hours later.

Interesting stat for the coach and many of the players who were coach and players in last years HV U16 team. It's now 2 years in a row being unbeaten in the minor round but to lose the GF. Last year they lost the first final before winning their way into the GF but this year they were still undefeated going into the GF. And those 3 finals losses have all been to the Bombers. Sorry not trying to rub it in but it does highlight that nothing can be taken for granted come finals. Especially in U18 where teams rarely have their best 22 together on the park during the minor round for a variety of reasons and can be an entirely different proposition come finals.

The Brighton official that "just suggested" they were behaving like sore losers probably acted just as much as a poor winner as the players did act as sore losers. He also apologized to several HV officials for his behaviour later. Second week in a row he has been involved in heated discussions on the after the U18s. Reckon he looks alot like you DTH.

Dont worry HV plan to take action on these on field actions from the players and they know full well that sort of carry on wont be tolerated

Yes it is an interesting stat - sure you are enjoying bringing it up.

Do you think that we may be a little bit off topic here?

I know people love to dramatise things, but to my knowledge there was absolutely not a striking offence. I believe that the red card was purely for abuse of the umpire after the siren. I don't condone this action at all and it was way over the top, but let's make sure we have our facts straight rather than just guessing and posting seconhand info. To suggest that there was the most serious offence you can get, committed against an official is muckraking.

Get a kick from people's picks - especially those that select Brighton in 18s. Played them once this year with far from our strongest side and beat them by 45 points. You guys all convinced Brighton's college kids back in the side make that much of a difference? Well DTH if you get up in the 18s it will be a huge upset

My picks
14s Valley in a tight contest
16s Emus tough game style will win the day
18s Valleys easy
Bs Valleys in a tight contest
As Shoes by a couple of goals

MF - You have become quite famous amongst the BDOS 18s. Your post has been reposted on their Facebook page and has now been seen by all coaches and players.

Hope the club won't hold you responsible when the BDOS boys win..........

Hope you didn't cop too much grief, MF. If it makes thing better, the boys reckon the motivation you provided was only worth a goal. ;)

Having been on the wrong end of it as a coach before, junior finals footy is a different ball game when sides start fielding their best 22. Minor round form goes out the window.

DTH you will be interested to know it appears the coach you are referring to here wont be coaching at HV next year. This is not due to a big fall out over the GF result but he applied for one role at club & didnt get it. Not sure where he will be in 2015
