SAFooty V2

Post by Dissident »

Hi

I've finally finished(in most respects) my theme for SAFooty, called V2. Boring. But apt. The old theme was dated and in need of some TLC to keep maintained. This new theme is modern, and allows me to create more features and ideas moving forward.

Before I go any further, yes - it's different. Deal with it. Change is good. Everything is still there so just take a moment before smashing your keyboard or screen.

I'll ramble some notes as I think of them

The ladder, last round and next round are in tabs on the right. Simple click and it will scroll through.

Links to other sites are at the bottom in the footer area

Logo has changed. It will undergo more changes, but it's changed.

The icons for forums/threads have changed to a better looking football.

Social media feeds are on the right in the small grey icons on the edge. The Twitter won't work yet, but when it does will show feeds for SAFooty, the SANFL and the clubs, as well as other twitter feeds we like.

"Recent Topic Replies". I like this. It's the threads with the last 5 replies on the entire forum. This is also on the "view forum" page, so if you click on for example, SANFL, you'll see the same function but only threads in that section shown. Click the arrow to go to the latest post.

You can now "quick reply" to a thread, which you can see at the bottom when you want to reply.

I've attempted to hack the code, and convert the AFL clubs and SANFL clubs to logos on your profiles. I like that too.

Profiles are on the right. It seems different but it's better in the end.

You can like posts. There's a little thumb on the post (where you see quote etc). The number of times you've liked and the number of times you've been liked are on the profile section.

It's a good idea to clear your cache so all new images are loading.
Please give this a chance. A Lot of work has gone in to this and I believe it's going to be good.

If you have any issues or comments etc - please let me know. I am still ironing out some small issues.

Cheers.

Looks like shits plus the ads are still there.

Smilies now work.

Other than that it's OK.

Also, with the icons, you'll notice little stars (red or grey) on the top left of some threads.
That means you have contributed to that thread - so you can see where you've been before.

I am aware the club icons aren't perfect but I'll look at those later.

Shouldn't the new logo have been the old one bent over with Andy D pumping it from behind?

A nice new look, however, am finding some issues whilst using an iPad:
Each page that loads up needs to be re-sized to fit the text that spills off the right side (& sometimes on the left) of the screen.
Page numbers & next & previous buttons for a post are sometimes obscured by a white box with blue border around it. This box has the Facebook & Twitter icons on the border.

Thanks Alby, I'll have to check that.

Also consider checking out TapaTalk - it's awesome for browsing the forum (and has changed a lot over time)

Can you provide me with a link/info on TapaTalk? Is it an App?

Can you explain why it is better to have them on the right?
This is the initial aspect I am finding the hardest to adjust to.

Because changing them to be on the left was a whore of a job
And the left->right reading ends up being more comfortable (that's what a few people found when testing)
