Portable Hard Drive Not Working
Hi all,
I was doing 150 game highlight movies for Ty Allen and Ruory Kirkby last night when my Verbatim 500GB Portable HD dropped, now it doesn't work. Thank God I got their movies finished first, but every Glenelg movie I have done since 2006, including most games, are on there plus a truck load of photos and work stuff. Yes, I know, Back it up, but it kind of was my Back Up.
Anyway, does anybody know of a restorer or somebody in Adelaide who might be able to retrieve the data and put it on a new Portable HDD?
Many of you might think that it is probably best not to have these Glenelg games anymore, but I have countless hours of work put into these and it's the only real record I have.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Portable Hard Drive Not Working
Why do you only back up to 1(one) hard drive..?
If you don't back up to 3(three) hard drives, you haven't backed up.
My experience...
Costly but safe.
It's only money but in the long run it's cheaper.
There is always information that can never be recovered.

Re: Portable Hard Drive Not Working
Can you give us any more information about what went wrong with it? What happens when you connect it to your computer? Is there any response?
Hopefully it's just a damaged partition table or a bad sector here and there.

Re: Portable Hard Drive Not Working
I managed to access data on a malfunctioning hard drive by putting it in a computer as a secondary HDD and booting the computer on one of those active Linux disks using a 32 bit version of Ubuntu that came with a magazine. I copied the data to another plug in HDD.

I've a fair few 100GB of photos, so I prefer to back up on hard drives personally, I'd go few a few months internet allowance just recovering photos, let alone anything else if I backed up everything from a cloud
I'm gonna break my rusty cage and run

Quick one all. I play movies from my portable HD through my xbox but the xbox only sees Fat32. Any way to format a 1Tb drive in fat32?

Don't know about windows but apple has a disk utility which pretty much does it for you, i'm guessing windows will have one. The HD will need to be wiped to do it though, so you would want to back up anything you have on there.
