the only game i've really played online is call of duty, which does allow you to host your own online game and only allowing people you want to join. that could be one if the games you want to play allow you to do this. or the only other way i know is hosting a online server.

@dog_ger - are you looking to play just on your local network? Or against each other through the Internet?

I thought I could start with computer v computer for starters.

Local network.

If you don't already know, I am not a computer engineer. :D

But I know more than stupid. :D

This is out of my depth. :D

I have a battle.net account for both computers, so both can play@worldofwarcraft.com :D

But I would like to play one on one via home network.

If it's a game that requires a server, like WoW then it doesn't matter where the two computers are.

You mention on computer being on wireless and the other isn't
That isn't overly clear
Are they using the same connection or not?

If you have one internet connection, then your computers could see each other at the moment
ie, you have a local network.

You could play games that don't require the Internet, and could also play games that require an online server like WoW (unless it doesn't let you for being on the same IP)
