Bays should be too strong against the home team named although admittedly can’t be arsed looking at who might drop down from the extended AFL squad for the Power..

Good to see Booney there.

Not the best game of footy O’ve seen but certainly better than the filth on show at Docklands tonight

Typical game between Port and Glenelg several spotfires, they don’t like us we don’t like them and we’re both happy with that.

Glenelg began life under new coach Matthew Clarke in positive fashion as it unveiled four impressive debutants in a 47-point victory against Port Adelaide at Alberton.

After a significant change in personnel during summer, the Bays turned to youth by selecting midfielders Remi Brown and Tim Alver and defenders Rex Jones and Joseph Fenwick.

All four showed plenty of encouragning signs in their Hostplus SANFL League debuts as the Tigers cruised home with a strong finish by piling on 6.2 to 2.2 in the final quarter.

Alver finished with 18 disposals and three clearances while Remi Brown tallied 15 possessions to go with his two goals, his first an eye-catching long bomb from 50m which was shepherded through by captain Liam McBean.

Jones took a couple of classy intercept marks while Fenwick provided dash from defence as McBean and forward sidekick Lachie Hosie booted four goals each.

Glenelg’s club debutants were also influential as Sturt signing Joel Thiele collected a team-high 26 disposals while former Bloods backman Will Patton was composed in defensive 50m.

Port was hurt by its poor efficiency by foot in particular, managing the same amount of inside 50s despite having 44 more disposals.

Brownlow Medallist Ollie Wines was rusty with his 33 touches as he gained valuable match fitness while Christian Moraes (33 disposals) and Will Lorenz (31 disposals) also found their share of the ball for the Pies.

New captain Jez McLennan battled hard in defence to be high among his team’s better performers as he finished with 25 disposals and 10 marks.
