well done Mark.

Nah, there's plenty in local footy. Cam McGree is a classic example

There are big blokes around, just not a lot that understand the commitment and happy to get paid as much or in a lot of cases, less, to do more. It's a hard sell.

In my opinion, that's the key problem of the SANFL and the drain to local/community footy. It's not the AFL, people need to work, clubs need to adjust accordingly.

I think its more the fact that we have to keep adjusting year on year. AFl clubs have been around for 35 years in SA lbh.

The supplementary lists and mid-season drafts haven't. The annual recruiting amendments for AFl clubs in the SANFl have not helped either.

Local clubs losing players to state leagues has diminished . Fantasia Smith Murphy Burgess Mchenry and co. would have continued their careers in the SANFL x-amount of years ago. Not anymore.

We pay huge sign on fees and regular under the table payments which are not reflected in our contracts lodged with the SANFL. Most get a cushy 20 hour a week job with big pay. We also provide beachfront location accommodations with access to the cubs on call concierge facility.

So the Tuckey and Cupido contracts are still on file at Noarlunga?

So that's the secret !!! Your forgot the bracing sea breeze and the vicinity to the wine regions!!

In all honesty (and admiration) a pretty handy recruiting drive. Nothing less than a top 3 spot at the end of the minor round should be the goal.

2 players delisted from AFL squads (Schoenmaker & Mitchell)
1 returned from an AFL list (Delean)
1 key player returned from o/s (Draper)
2 from the VFL (Baldi and Moimoi)
1 from the WAFL (Sparks)
1 from the SANFL (also ex VFL) (Gaspar)

I would expect 5 of them to be in our best side . That is based purely on my assessment. I think you have missed Verrall who is a returning junior , delisted by Melbourne, and I think he w8ll be our first choice ruck.

As we all know, the season takes its toll on many players and opportunities will arise for the others.

Jake Summerton (retired/Wallaroo), Liam Fitt (retired/McLaren Districts), Jaiden Magor (work interstate), Noah Howes (Collingwood), Will Splann (Tasmania VFL), Tom Wheaton (Nhill), Cameron Kirkland (Reynella), Callum McCarty (Central District), Damon Freitag (Interstate), Jacob Collins (Tasman – Port Lincoln), Sam Hindes (Sturt), Dayne McGary (Onkaparinga Valley), Dakota Sterzl (Port Adelaide SANFL), Aaron Douglass,

still some good talent that's left though.
I guess time will tell hey.

Alex Van Wyk training with the Power following Ivan Soldo doing his ACL.
Will be impossible for NAFC to replace if he gets picked up so late in pre-season.

From memory, weren't a few AFL clubs interested last year, before he got injured?

The poor local/ammo clubs.

Still amazed this was genuinely a proposed argument.

Please stop pretending you understand the local clubs plight. It’s very condescending.

Listening to Bassett on the radio he has given me some hope this season than I had to be consistent and more competitive. Sounds like he really has bought in to the club and is teaching the players a lot. Two education sessions a week for the players.

No finals obviously but small moving forward steps.

He is not eligible to be taken pre season, I don't know the rules, but he is eligible for that dreadful mid season draft.
It looks as though North will have him for about half the season as happened with Ewan MacKinlay last year and Jacob Bauer in 2022.

Dont be surprised if Port have their usual whinge to the SANFL to get what they want
and the gutless SANFL will back down like they always do
