South’s frontal pressure to cause turnovers has been very good, especially to create easy F50 entries

25 scoring shots to 24 at the end of the day but South, despite having a day out in front of the sticks, looked much more potent when they had momentum on their side. As a close observer of the Dogs I can help but feel we’ve transitioned from the undersized midfield who used to get bullied around the stoppages to one full of big bodied, plodder types who are honest players in themselves but lack the polish and pace as a unit. Noticeable again today how quick acceleration out of stoppages damaged us around clearances.
So coupled with our insistence on playing the short game with chip passes and also linking up with handball chains under pressure, that creates multiple turnovers (I gave up counting them), which in the modern game can kill you off very quickly.
A bit of soul searching to do at the Ponderosa..

It’s ok everything is fine at Centrals.
Sure, we can’t beat a bottom 3 side, but that’s just bad umpiring.
Nothing to worry about, the supporter base need not be upset we can’t win. Nothing to see here

But South are 6th, Central 9th, so they are not a bottom3 side, well not now

Season officially done umpires had no bearing on the result
While we have Thomas and his boys club coaching we will go nowhere .the club wont move them on
How can guys like Ethan East & Mihail Lochowiak be playing reserves when you have some players who hardly touch it
After we lose to Norwood next week ,we have the wooden spoon blockbuster against Port lose that and decisions have to be made
Only 2 worth mentioning today Annand tried his heart out in ruck and Anzac kicking 4 after that not much else

I'll be happy with that.

Thommo will be the guy under the pump at this stage no doubt. But he was given nothing with recruits this year to compensate a host of talent that left.
On top of that, what has happened to guys like Grace, Barry, Thomas, Monaghan and Grant? Not stepped up as anticipated.
What happened to Josh Fahey (our one decent new signing) after quarter time? 10 disposals in the first and zero in the second...

We aren’t kicking 19.5
If we have 24 scoring shots I’d be shocked if half are goals

They tightened up plus our mids not winning enough footy to dish off to him.
Posthuma another that has not stepped up, lucky to be in the side.
Has Mark Ross failed then?
Some player retention can't be helped ,but
each year we lose too many.
Horrible start to the season, reserves and u18s are bottom.
The league and under 16s are winless and are 2nd to bottom.

Only had one eye on this game so probably not in the best position to comment, but refreshing to see South play a more direct, instinctive style and actually hit targets by foot. Could count on one hand the number of times we've kicked over 100 points in the past half dozen seasons.
Dogs looked rather dangerous when moving the ball forward themselves (25 shots from 34 entries) but once South gained ascendancy in the middle their I50's dried up.
Draper, Davis, Sparks and season debutants Duncan and Scott named best. South are a better team with Grocock in the seniors and contributing (3 goals).
A big win for the 2's to keep some pressure on the selectors.
Mitchell injured? Only 4 touches and didn't notice him after half time.

Agreed. Without the skippers x-factor our midfield is struggling. We are slow, we fumble and our skills kicking over 25 metres struggle.
We are getting smashed in centre clearances week in week out. It’s hard to win when you are always trying to rebound.
Picking our best 22 would be a good start. Mohail and East should be in the side.
Not many of our players have improved this season. Anzac Whitlum maybe ?? The youngster Rosenzweig is a positive.
As for an assessment on Mark Ross he was magnificent season 1 & 2. He built a great squad out of nothing. Dittmar Munn Liddy Barry Little Lochowiaks Gaspar Adams Callinan and co. But good clubs don’t lose quality players.
The recruiting this off season was disappointing considering what we lost. And it wasn’t like they were caught unawares. Saunders and Fahey are quality SANFL McCarty and Bastick solid. As for the rest of this season recruits Smith Ralph Hamblyn Hargreaves are in development stages.

Watched a fair bit of this game, South certainly have a lively forward line that will cause any team in the comp some issues if they can give them enough looks.

Was that from one of the sling tackles Doc, the one in the 2nd qtr, on the wing? Saw two yesterday that I thought could have been called, one for each side.
