Yeah, looked and acted like he was high as a kite.
Obviously has some issues and can’t see how the club allowed him to play in that state

I'd find it very hard to believe that he would be high, from his own doing, on game day.

A line coach, medical staff, S&C staff, teammates etc surely would have noticed something pre-match.

My guess is he has had a reaction to some legal medication, maybe even a pre-match jab?

You would hope Carlton come out and clear things up tomorrow morning.

As for the game, you can't fault their effort, but their method and fundamentals of the game are just deplorable...

We still can't kick to save ourselves. That vision from January rocked me and my Carlton mates. Cripps and others shrugged it off at the time, but it's come back to haunt everyone. We. Cannot. Kick! How AFL players get to that level without being able to kick astounds me.

Actually, in saying that, given the rule changes to speed the game up, players who can run will be drafted over those that can kick. The standard of the game will deteriorate but it will faster. Good-o!

As far as Hollands is concerned, that could be the last we see of him. I'm not sure as a club how we can trust him to take the field in any state, given what happened last night. I saw one bit of vision when a handball missed him and he looked like he had the old mexican jumping beans in him. He looked like he was fidgety which is unlike anyone I've ever seen play the game. Very sad. I hope Carlton can get to the bottom of the issue for his sake.

How on earth did none of his team mates, opponents or coaching staff not pick up that he was skittled?

Makes you wonder with Hollands whether all the off fields existed prior to his original drafting and whether it was just well hidden by family/friends/teammates throughout the drafting process. Or whether it was a case of something he developed once getting on an AFL list, having the money, lifestyle 'fame'.

Its amazing what can be common knowledge to 'people even losely in the know' yet seems to get hidden / forgotten enough that they get on an AFL list. I can think of a couple of blokes who were on a Port Power list in the 2000's that fitted that bill somewhat and it never ended up really working for them.

This is what is bothering me the most, surely someone would notice he was completely out of his mind and have a duty of care to take him off the ground with "hamstring awareness".

I think this is half the problem of most people in life; they conceal it well to begin with.

I really don't know. But you would've thought with his brother in the side, if anyone was going to notice something 'off' about him, Ollie would've.

Come on mate. These guys spend more time together than most family do; they definitely spend more time together than the average work crew and if someone rolled into work like that today you would 100% know if that was their normal or different. Even if you were flat out busy in your own work you would still notice if that person was completely off.

Its a very odd scenario, as there undoubtedly seemed to be moments of 'tweaking'. 100% prescription drugs etc. could be responsible and it's not a recreational drug issue but so weird no one else noticed.

Really sad to be honest.

I think you're jumping the gun here and being a bit judgey prematurely. He may have had an adverse affect to something given to him, I'll give hime the benefit of the doubt at this stage as I don't think someone would intentionally meth up or take some mushy juice on a game day.

Have a read about Gavin Crosisca, he was on the gear for much of his career and no-one had any idea

Whatever caused last night, I’d be more worried about him in the next couple of days or so when presumably he realises or is told about the state he was in. In truth we really don’t know what happened.

The biggest question is going to be why Carlton didn't act earlier, there is no way possible the off field staff wouldn't have known what was going on.

Just saw some footage of him in the pre game warmup and suffice to say you surely would have words to him

Yeah happy to concede it could be an adverse affect, personally though in my experience i havent seen to many people 'tweak' of prescriptions style drugs.

I really hope its not the case. Not sure we will ever know the truth to be honest and in all honesty its probably best for Hollands well being that we dont know and it stays private with those that matter.

Happy to concede it may not be recreational drugs but lets it is in my experience not all recreational drug users 'are equal'

Very sadly i have a couple of ex mates (now acquittances) who are what i would call functioning drug addicts. Smoke a bit of meth every day and have done so for years but still manage to hold down a job, don't have the classic symptoms of completely rotting teeth, no tweaking ect. apart from slightly more sharpened pupils you would barley know other than they always 'appear' to be pretty energetic. I can almost guarantee their work places wouldn't have a clue.

However on the other hand and i don't know why you then get those that are clearly obvious when they are off tap, start tweaking, show physical signs ect.

Its no different i guess to when people drunk some are more obvious than others.

Whatever was happening with Hollands last night though drugs or no drugs there is no way on this planet you can convince me no one with the club didnt think something was off.

Me too. Despite the issue itself, he's front and centre on News.com.au and most probably quite a few other websites and newspapers. I'm actually glad Ch7 chose not to televise some of the footage last night. Seems to be very disturbing.

In this situation I'm advocating for targeted drug testing. For his sake, I hope they get to the bottom of it.

Yeah agree. AFL/Club/Family and Elijah need to know the truth. Other than that, it probably just needs to stay private for his wellbeing.

If it is drugs, he just goes away on personal reasons and gets the support, he needs and the media don't report the story more than his going on personal leave and leave it at that.

This is one of those occasions where the media need to have some morales and think about a humans wellbeing before social media hits.
