He’s a great player but I’ll be happy if he makes 5 years
That is fair, retiring a 5 time premiership player is a good way to go out.
We don’t throw out ridiculous statements like other clubs
Though I’d be happy with 3 out of 5

Agreed, I watched this draft year with a bit of interest, didn't think he was the number one pick then, definitely don't think it now.
Very good accumulator who doesn't do as much damage as he should with his disposal count. By all accounts a great team man and should be the next captain, but 8 years to a bloke with a dodgy back is nuts.
He’s was definitely the number 1 pick
I can assure you
There was quite a few in the picture for number 1 back in 2018. Walsh, Max King, Lukosious and Rankine. I honestly thought Izak could have gone first.
If you were picking a team now, you'd have Ben King, Butters, Bailey Smith, Rankine & Rozee ahead of him.

What is the definition of great though?
B&F winner
AA honours
4th in a Brownlow
Pretty good for a 25 year old
I reckon he’d be even better if he played in a good side
There is no definition, we've been through A Graders etc many times on here (and argued to no outcome

) and it's ambiguous at best so it comes down to how you or I see them and I'm not sure he's a great player myself.

I’d have Butters as No. 1 now
I’d have:
Butters
Smith
Walsh
King
Rozee
Rankine

Walsh goes off injured in the first 5 minutes of the game tonight against Geelong

Came back on but clearly has an issue

Has any coach ever been sacked after round zero?
He’s not the problem but our board will make him the scapegoat

Cripps looked so over it, did you see his face "omg get me out of here", probably dreams of being in a west coast jumper and winning wooden spoons instead of this

West Coast have won 3 spoons.
Carlton have won 5 spoons.

Am I the only person who can see cripps is over playing in the midfield and at 195cm might have a dazzling few final years playing centre half forward or back.
Kane reads these forums for goss so I'll let you mention it on monday nights show...hi kane

Probably. He is terrible at set shots and is too slow for half back.

Carlton's skill are appalling
Coaches but mainly the players have to take the rap for that
To leave Hollands on for 60% of the play time for 1 disposal just shows what a rabble the club and, especially, the coach(es) are.

If someone could teach him how to kick for goal, that'd be a good start. But at Carlton we let them do whatever they want, so whilst he can play forward and hard to match up on, he isn't a goalkicker.

Cripps should be like Bont, given their similar stature. I could see Bont getting 70+ as a permanent forward, but like you've said, Cripps' kicking lets him down.
I remember talking to a Hawthorn recruiter over 10 years ago, when they were dominating the comp. They were instructed to ignore blokes who couldn't kick well, as it's too late once they get to AFL level. You might be able to smooth out a few things, but the damage is done in your formative years.

Whilst Cripps isn’t the best kick at goals I reckon he goes alright otherwise
