Mythical Creature wrote:Has anyone had any experiences with the amber necklaces or even the bracelets. We have a nearly 6 month old at home who is starting to give us a bit of troubles with his teething and we would try nearly anything at the moment.
These necklaces claim to be great for teething babies, and allegedly the babies don't realise they're teething.
Naturally I'm a bit sceptical and am wandering if these are similar to the power band bracelets that were the rage a couple of years ago, but proven to be nothing more than a placebo.
Can stuff like this have a placebo affect on babies?
That WCH teething gel is an elixir, as others have mentioned.
Have you tried soft classical music in the background?
Are you sure that teething is really the issue though? (At 6 months, the sharp teeth are the first through and in my own experience, these were straightforward. Wait until you have to deal with molars coming through.....That's why I wonder if teething is all of the problem here)...there might be other issues, like lactose intolerance, ear infection(s), wind, or if he/she has just started solids, the bowels may be adjusting to the need to absorb new foodstuffs and not just milk. Sometimes, (sadly), a combination of all these things is just what every parent dreads!

Sounds like more "Naturopathic" nuttery to me.Mythical Creature wrote:Wear them. I only came across them today, and for 20 bucks I'm seriously considering trying it. I just don't get how or why they work.Mr Beefy wrote:Are they supposed to chew on them or wear them?
Might bite the bullet then do a report in the test dummies thread!
If you can't absorb something from it it can't do anything - there are no natural healing fields or vibrations in things like that.
It is a bit like the old Pyramid scam.

Although a pearl necklace is a good way of avoiding having more children.
