Spelly, i see Stephen Williams not included in West Adelaide's list, i think he played there for a season or 2 in late 70's, and i have discussed this on here with another Port suppoter, who thinks he didn't. Are you able to confirm if Stephen did play for West?

I would say that he only played in the juniors for West - he made his debut in 1979, for Port and played 1 match in that year. (SA Football '80) The Football Times Yearbook 1983 I have says he came from West, so I'm thinking that would be the lower grades.

Oh ok, i once saw old footage of a game from the late 70's, might even have been 78, in which i thought i saw him kick a banana goal which was a highlight of this particular game. I think he was born in 61, in which case he woudl have been 17 in 78 so may have played league that year.

Dad was Captain of Westies at the time - He played with Mark Williams but Stephen was too young for league at the bloods

Yes, Mark and Anthony played League for West but Stephen didn't.
By the way Spelly, the "Joe' Humphrey you have listed for West is actually Lyn Humphrey. Joe was his nickname. There was no other Joe Humphrey who has played for West. He was recruited from the VFA from memory, possibly Frankston.

Thank you.

That's one problem with the list, there is the correct spelling of players names, and some might be a nickname or shorter form of name.

Am I missing something spelly? A lot of those names don't seem to have gone onto the updated version, particularly from the As and Bs.

I worked with a Mark Davoren who played for West - not doubting your records, just questioning to make sure the final result is accurate for spelly's list. Side note, I believe he is the father of the current Eagles/State U18 player as well.

Yes Mark is Sam's father and played at West but, according to West's published records, he didn't play a League game (though I thought he played 1.) Matt played many years of senior footy at West and was a brilliant high mark.

And I'm not sure if David Lawless played for Torrens (he may well have) but he certainly did for West first.
