I'm with you, it's not what I want my 9 year old son to see, especially when he loves his cricket and does well at it.
He said to me Tuesday night "I don't think I want to play cricket for Australia now".
Each to their own though, I'm not one to judge others on their views.
It's weird, I have never met Hughes but this incident has hit me pretty hard, maybe the fact we are both left handed openers, same build and have an almost identical batting style (except he can bat) almost makes you feel like you knew the bloke and he was 'one of yours'
Despite it being such a rare accident being a 31 year old who is still playing the highest stand of cricket im capable of makes you start to question whether 'it's time' and how important playing actually is to you compared to family time etc etc
Almost has made reflect on the few times I have been struck on the helmet by fairly sharpe blokes and you wonder how close you came.
Also makes you think about a few things you do and say on a field, was only a month ago I was playing against an opponent and person I really despise and encouraging our quick to dig in a few short ones you never even contemplate that the outcome could be something so serious
Really sad incident for cricket in Australia with not a single positive other than the support everyone is giving each other.
I'm the same, I don't know Phil but this has got me. I guess having some mates that play at this level and seeing Phil pick up Sam Raphael off the Adelaide Oval turf a couple of years ago after James Pattinson nailed him has affected me greatly. I too have questioned some things the past 2 days and was sick in the stomach all of Tuesday afternoon as you don't normally associate cricket with such serious injury.

Yeah it seems like the whole cricket community has been rattled by this
Was at the shops and bumped into an opponent who is an opening bowler who is also a good mate of mine (his considered sharpe not express for div2 pdca) we always have real hard fought battles on the pitch and are playing against each other next week but even he was saying his not sure how he will go bowling and that his really worried about his short pitch bowling (his known to be erratic, there the scariest) especially when the younger less capable batsmen come in

Great bloke!!!!!!!
Certainly has, picked up an 8 fa on the weekend.
He hit me on the forearm a few years back and I had an instant golf ball hanging off my arm, he bowled me a full toss outside off and I took a swing at it, it went over gully and landed in the Smithfield Oval carpark on the full, he was quick that day.

Re: NSW vs SA at SCG
Yeah he got me on the forearm at EP a couple of years ago
It was my first game back from dislocated shoulder and he had a gail blowing from the club room end behind him, was dark and overcast, game ended up getting called off when a storm came in and he was quick that day.
Not arrogance or crap from him though just a good one on one battle

Wonder which side the administration will support here......the players or the touring team? Certainly hung the players out to dry in the Monkey gate affair....

Re: NSW vs SA at SCG
You know, I wasn't THAT shocked by his injury (as some people have said they were). And I think now in hindsight it was because I thought "oh well, he'll be right, after all it is just a game of cricket". Now that he's gone, I'm shaking!
Terrible, terrible set of circumstances.....

I'm with you.
They get back up, shaken, with a headache, maybe retire hurt, but not this. Horrible.
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Re: NSW vs SA at SCG
The more I think about it the more I can't help but feel for all the players involved
No doubt being a competitive contest there maybe opponents whose final moments with Hughes may not have been a true reflection of their friendship with him
Hopefully all the players involved receive all the help and support they need
