The De Matteis one is a free kick.
The other is very much at the other end of the scale IMO.

Re: 2024 Adelaide Footy League -Division 2
Clearly you're emotionally invested in this one, so I'm not going to play on - we will see come Thursday.. yeah he was spun around, yeah he went to ground, yeah he got a free kick.. that's all it warranted.
He didn't drive him into the ground, there was no two motions, he let go of him well before he hit the ground. Old mate also played on, so no injury occurred.
There still is some onus / responsibility on the person being tackled to have some awareness, and also to protect themselves as well.

That tackle has been doing some serious rounds over the weekend. Personally reckon that’s the worst DT I’ve seen in at least the last 2-3 years and it’s only luck that has stopped that from becoming a major news story.

The ROC one is borderline. I’ve seen players get games for similar since 2022. He does hang on for longer than needed and using the Bedge method of using a single frame to support your case then a few frames earlier is a little more damning of what could have been a poorer outcome for the Towns lad. With the Goodwood one. Pretty sure that bloke has priors for a DT and I suggest he starts packing his bags for that long overdue holiday because he ain’t playing footy for a while.

Tackled whilst out of bounds
Head hits the concrete from this still

He does actually start the tackle in the field of play. Certainly not condoning it as it could have been a whole lot worse with his head hitting that concrete. Think he'll be missing a fair bit of footy

Yes - should have said: started the sling motion whilst out of bounds - totally unnecessary
The other player, luckily, did not end up with a fractured skull
This one is the absolute epitome of why the league is taking such a hard position

The sling tackle at Goodies on Sat was dangerous - and the nonchalance showed by the tackler left a lot to be desired after the fact....also not sure how in this day and age of occ health and safety that it is ok to have concrete so close to the boundary....something for the league to look at

Ground has been like that since it was only Goodwood FC using the ground

Feels like a boundary check in cricket.
Might end up being the difference between 4 and 6 (weeks, and or runs).

Yep imagine if something serious was to happen in three months time and the footage of this tackle is getting around.

That spoon drain is still a fair way from the boundary - That’s a council issue even so. If that was done at a ground with a perimeter fence then the bloke would have a broken neck as a best case scenario. I could name 20 grounds without even thinking that would have a structure as close or closer to the boundary across multiple leagues. It’s easily a 4.5-5m gap. The SCG would have a case to answer as well as 3 SANFL venues. Bottom line is the tackle was ridiculous and we’ve all played footy long enough to see what the tacklers intent was even though he wouldn’t have taken into consideration the drain.

What I'm saying is that if someone goes and fractures their skull on that concrete in a few months' time you don't think any investigator/lawyer involved isn't going to bring this footage up to show that the risk existed and was significant.
Would be pretty naive to think that wouldn't be the case.

I’m saying that risk could be at any ground that has a structure within 5m of the boundary - There is plenty out there and it doesn’t need to just single out this venue nor just this sport. I’d bet there would be dozens of grounds across the State that would have an interchange bench that is closer to the boundary than that drain. It also takes a completely reckless act to have that scenario play out. IF there was a fence there this would be way more serious.

We should really be thankful there wasn't a serious injury sustained hitting his head on the concrete regardless of any guidelines etc.
