Israel’s security and in effect, its existence, is wholly reliant on US support.
If the US ever withdrew support (not going to happen), Israel would be extremely vulnerable, but with that support, they are effectively an invincible force.
The major allies of the US, including Australia, are not going to go against them on this matter, no matter how they feel about the situation.
It is what is is.

I didn't think the world would be so supportive of an anti-Israel group yet.
Weird post, hope it wasn't specifically in response to mine.
Nope, not a response to yours, was genuinely interested in why the shift from the past where the default position was generally one of support for the Jews after what happened to them during the first half of the 1900s.
Dedja answered that though:
dedja wrote:I suspect they’ve burnt most of the support and sympathy tickets they received since then by their actions.

Hezbollah in Israeli's sights now.
Whether you agree/support Israel or not, got to hand it to them, they're certainly creative ... sabotaging pagers and walkie talkies is a novel way to eliminate your enemy.
Now engaging in air strikes and a ground offensive into Lebanon.
The mess is just getting worse ... they are no winners, just multiple losers.

It’s really about to kick off now given the Iranian actions from last night. The whole Middle East is about to erupt to another level it seems. The other issue now domestically here in Australia is going to be the price of fuel in coming weeks if this war puts a strain on world wide oil resources.

Its my 6th decade on this planet
Every 20 years sh!t seems to go down in a big way over there: 1982, 2006 and now 2024,
Mind you this was always on the cards after Netanyahu got into bed with the Zionist parties after the 2022 election as a way of staying in power.
Sometimes it's good being located at the arse end of the world

On a side note, the shit that’s going down with the illegal tobacco trade right now is incredibly under-reported. Funny that!

Yanks pull their staff out of Iraq, Bahrain and Kuwait and next day Israel and Iran start lobbing missiles at each other.
Some talks that the Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei will declare war on Israel in the next hour or so.
Buckle up, this will get nasty

If I worked in the Iranian nuke program as a scientist , and I heard that the US was suddenly emptying embassies and withdrawing military families from the region, I think I’d take a few Sickies and stay elsewhere for a little while.

reports from Israeli sources that they took out Iran’s entire general staff.

Major-General Gholam Ali Rashid, Commander Iranian Armed Forced Central HQ
Major-General Hossein Salami, Commander Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps
Estimated that around a dozen nuclear scientists have been assassinated

What is going on here, an obsessive middle eastern focus by left wing protesters across Australian cities for months and months. Israel routinely denounced for human rights abuses.
A theocratic regime in Iran (not for the first time) murders it's own citizens, in the hundreds (as far as outsiders can tell) to hang onto power.
The protesters have slunk away on this one. I'll never understand the buggers.
