Re: 2012 London Olympics
50 days to go getting very close now. A few protests in place for non selected athletes but to be fair I don’t think Pippa or Emma Snowsill will win.
The media/Nick D’arcy haters are at it again a photo in a gun shop. Im shocked that these guy are the first Australians to ever have their photo taken in a gun shop shocking stuff! Looking forward to the reactions when he win gold.

Re: 2012 London Olympics
Snowsill was never in our top 3 at any stage. The 3 other girls just always had her measure. I know you give champions some leeway, which no doubt was why they gave them extra time, but the process sucked. Having endurance sports undecided until so late is a shockingly bad preparation. For any sport based on physical performance rather than skill preparation is vital. Athletes need to time their preparation properly, which means being down on form at certain times. If we force athletes to be at the top of their game for 12 months they will be at a severe disadvantage.
Swimming is our best sport and due in no small part to the fact that all positions are decided at the same time so far in advance. Athletes know to be at their best for the qualifications then they prepare as they need to for maximum performance at the games. Triathlon should be the same. Name the time and place a distance out and let them decide it on the course. If you want a few races, name them and stick to the results.
Pippa Savage seems a little unlucky to me. Sounds like it was just a "personality clash" which should have been solved much earlier. The chemistry of a rowing crew is important so the decision is probably right, but far too late. She should have been moved to a new crew and given a chance to earn her place there.

Re: 2012 London Olympics
We also now have a weighlifter allegedly blackmailed $5000 from officials. The wierd thing about this was he was apparently offered $1000 by these officials first. I don't see why the officials would make up the story but I definitely want to see proof ($5000 in withdrawals by various officials in the hour before competition should be easy enough to show) before hanging the guy. In fact I'd have asked for said proof before this even got to the media.

Re: 2012 London Olympics
Got a couple emails yesterday regarding security at the events I'm going to, says to arrive at least 2 hours before the scheduled event start time as ticket holders will be subject to airport style security measures, liquids in plastic bags, all have to be under 100ml, everything out of pockets to be screened, certainly never been to any sporting event anywhere that's had these sort of measures in place
